I'm getting married on the 13th July and it looks like this heatwave is sticking around.. I'm actually getting quite worried about it now, had my final dress fit today and was absolutely melting! Anyone else about to get married and worried? Any tips on how to cope? ahhh other than the heat I'm so excited!

are you going to be outside a lot?
If you're inside, it'll be fine, if outside,, make sure there'll be plenty of shade and cool drinks (low/non alcohol or people will be really hot and thirsty and will get mashed!)

Same , on the 14th but wow it's going to be hot

I’m getting married tomorrow which, according to the local forecast, is meant to be the coolest day this week but I’m still not looking forward to how warm it will be (especially as I’m 5 months pregnant!)

Hand fans as wedding favours.

Hello! We got married in July 5 years ago, on the last hot (like this) Saturday. It’s was boiling and we got married outside at 3pm. To be honest everyone loved it! They could mingle outside with cool welcome drinks and bar drinks, wander around the grounds. I did have a hoop under my dress so it wasn’t too bad as it kept it off my legs. We also had little fans made in our wedding colours with our names and the date on, just nice card ones. We put them on the seats so guests all had one as the ceremony took place, which really helped and didn’t look out of place.

If it’s inside then there’s usually aircon, so not problems.

I was at one at the weekend and I’d say make sure there’s water available for everyone. If you can get the venue to set up jugs of tap water and glasses. Otherwise everyone will get wasted.

Fans as well.

Encourage guests to bring colourful umbrellas to use as parasols if the ceremony is outside. And get hold of some for the wedding party too, venues of ten have large white umbrellas so it might be worth asking.
Possibly by a job lot of fans to be handed to guests as they arrive.
Don't drink before the ceremony, heat and alcohol can be a bad combination and the registrars aren't allowed to marry you if you are visibly drunk.
Get hold of some mini ice packs (like the ones children put on bumps) and have them with you in the car, hotel room etc. You can hold them against your pulse points.
Provide jugs of iced water for guests through out the day.

I got married on a very hot summer day in the UK, temperature was in the 90’s
More water was drunk than wine that day so my advice would be to ensure that you have plenty of jugs of iced water or chilled bottle water for all.
The only other thing I remember is nearly passing out in the church, which was actually cool, but the heat whilst getting ready, the lack of food and glass of champagne, plus the stress didn’t really mix.

29 years ago we got married on the hottest day of the year. It was 30C and I was wearing a 1980s multi-layered meringue dress.

Sweated buckets, make up slid off my face and when we got to the reception after a mammoth photo session the wine was flowing a bit too freely (hic).

No real advice other than enjoy your day and I wish you a long and happy marriage.

If you’re worried about your thighs rubbing under your dress, order Body Glide from Amazon now.

Make sure you/your make up artist use a really good setting spray.

You’ll be fine!

Getting married this weekend outside, but luckily by a lake. I hope there is a breeze as my dress is huge and heavy !

Would rather it sunny and hot than raining and miserable tho !

Just got married outside in France and it was 35C. My tips would be to stay out of your dress for as long as possible. Stay indoors somewhere air conditionned. If wedding is outdoors, make sure there is shade for everyone. Drink lots of water and avoid alcohol beforehand.

That being said, I hardly felt the heat during the ceremony and my ring fitted (which I was convinced it wouldn't).

Have a fantastic day!
