Reading, Poem, something or nothing?!? Wedding in 6 weeks

Hi, hopefully you can help me.

My wedding is in 6 weeks and we haven’t found a reading or poem or anything that we like and need to get something sorted.
We are having a civil ceremony so nothing religious, we have been together nearly 12 years and have 2 children of our own so struggling to find something that says ‘you’ve made it this far ok so carry on with what you are doing’

So any help would be great. We would like to have something to add of our own other than the basic 20 min ceremony.

Watching with interest

Like you we've been together 11 yrs and are getting married early next year an. I not keen on the traditional stuff about starting out life together and also not keen on religious stuff as its not a church wedding. I have been trawling the internet and came across these

My cousins found a really special acoustic recording of fields of gold . I sobbed.

Ah I’ve been looking for readings recently and found it hard as neither of us are that soppy and I hate anything that’s cheesy and embarrassing- I love that dog quote that’s been mentioned though!

I also like Not perfect by bob Marley and I will be here by Stephen curtis Chapman.

We had 'I Rely on You' by Hovis Presley and a reading from 3 men in a boat about letting go of what you don't need.

dragonnoodle I love the poem you read and have decided to use this same one. Showed it to my close friend who we want to read it and she loves it and and thinks it’s perfect. Thank you.

We had a reading from one of my favourite books- the title is my name and they get married at the end so we just cherry-picked some appropriate bits and my brother read it. Could you do something like that??
