How important was the dress then?

So I have posted here about a few dresses I like. I'm quite picky. Really want to keep costs low so looking on eBay and second hand sites for designer bargains.
Saw a nice one in Quiz -£120 bit - off for first time buyer bit off with Topcashback. Actually looks really nice on ( I think, need a second option obviously).
But will I regret not having an amazing, top quality dress? Do most wedding dresses look good on.?It's a destination wedding so all the massive princess wedding dresses are out. It can't be that easy to pick the dress so what am I missing. Jeans take months to find a nice pair!

It's this one in case anyone can add anything.

I spent €70 on mine! It was exactly what I wanted, I wore it for one day and then chucked it in the attic. I'd be raging with myself now if I'd spent more on it.

I'm not that fussed about clothes generally, though.

The Quiz one is lovely and looks a lot more expensive than it is. I spent £600 on mine and regret the waste of money since it's been worn for a few hours and is now shoved in the loft

I was going to say no to a quiz dress but that is so beautiful.

For a destination wedding, you need something light. I think it is perfect. A friend of mine got a dress lined to make it look better on (not saying you need to but it looked well)

It is important that you feel comfortable in the dress. You will have photos of it around for ever.
However it is not important that you have spent £££ on it - indeed, I think you might regret it afterwards when you realise you wear it ONCE.

To me, that dress looks lovely. I'm not sure why you would think there was a problem with you wearing it Confused

inchoccyheaven · 16/02/2018 16:36

That's a lovely dress and the most important thing is that you feel confident in it. When hair and make up done too sure you will feel amazing and look it too.

OllyBJolly · 16/02/2018 16:38

I think that's lovely.

My dress was £90 from eBay, and £30 for the alterations. I was very lucky; it was a silk Charlotte Balbier and was stunning. Worth remembering is that wedding photos are the ones that everyone keeps. So you might only wear the dress once but the images of you wearing it will be around for a very long time.

Its important that you feel good in it. I wish someone told me this advice years ago.

My dress looked crap, wasnt comfortable and cost thousands. I ripped it up a few years back because it just constantly reminded me how awful I looked in it. I bought it because my dm loved it and it was as expensive as she thought it should have been Hmm I wanted a cheap Monsoon dress but my dm thought it embarrassing to buy off the high street.

Buy the dress you love. If thats a pink polka dot bikini then thats perfect as its for you.

Mine for a destination wedding was a "proper" wedoing dress from a bridal shop but was a sample sale and only cost £195. It was cheaper than the dresses my brides maids chose!

Timefortea99 · 16/02/2018 16:48

That is a lovely dress. I would get that. Why pay more? It will look good in the photos, but you will never wear it again, so why spend big money?

OutyMcOutface · 16/02/2018 16:51

To be honest I have always thought that the most important element of any garment is fit. The reason why more expensive clothing tends to look better is superior cut and material leading to a better fit but if you have had the luck to find a cheaper gown that fits you perfectly then go for it!

That dress is beautiful.

Mine cost £64 from Chichi London. Bought a petticoat for underneath. Felt amazing in it and was complimented all day/evening.

Personally I wouldn't spend loads on a dress it's one day and it's not like you can wear again.

Klobuchar · 16/02/2018 17:06

It’s absoultely lovely but of course we don’t know what the material feels like or how it hangs on you.

Go with the dress that makes you feel the best and don’t worry if it seems too cheap x

BrimFire · 16/02/2018 17:16

ReinettePompadour Sad I'm sure you can't have looked that bad. I totally get how annoying it would be to buy the " wrong" dress.

Really glad no one has regretted their cheapies. I'll get my friends to see it on and hopefully stick with it.
