How much are you spending on rings?

Just that really. How much have you spent or how much have you budgeted for both of your weddings rings?

My engagement and wedding rings are a set, and cost about £2000; DH's wedding ring cost £1600 which is at least a grand more than I meant to spend, but we'd come in under budget on the catering so the mental calculators were all off. And we went to Stephen Einhorn 'just to look' and got a bit carried away...

borlottibeans · 12/02/2018 11:26

Where are you lot getting your £40 rings? I'm really struggling to find anything under £150 and am obviously looking in the wrong places!

HRTpatch · 12/02/2018 11:30

I'm getting married in 12 weeks and haven't even thought about rings! No idea where to look.

Mamabear14 · 12/02/2018 12:21

We got ours cheap on Elma jewellery. We aren't big ring wearers. Mine is a 3mm Palladium and was about £250. DH ordered a couple to see what he liked and chose a thin brushed silver band for about £30!

SoozC · 25/02/2018 10:01

Mine was about £80, DH's about £120. He doesn't wear his much as he's lost some weight so it's currently too loose. I'd have liked to spend more, I suppose, but I'd worry about losing it.

£1000 mine and £2000 for soon to be DH; both are platinum with diamonds in and we decided we’d rather cut costs on the wedding as we’ll be wearing the rings for the rest of our lives

Mum4Fergus · 25/02/2018 19:04

£40...getting ours tattooed x

LoveInTokyo · 26/02/2018 20:44

Ours are about €400 each, his is a plain gold band and mine is platinum.

3011152gt · 27/02/2018 07:00

I'm interested
Df has a silver band £30

I'm planning on a simple platinum band but open to reconditions to purchase at the moment looking at Etsy £180 for plain band

EffRam · 08/03/2018 09:15

Mine was 80 and husband's 120. Both are plain rose gold bands, the same but obviously different sizes!

MaggieFS · 08/03/2018 22:52

£800 for mine which is 2.5mm Platinum with small diamonds channel set in it going two thirds of the way around.

£400 for DH 4mm rose gold.

Or it may have been £900/£300 - the total was definitely £1200.

Allegedly we got a discount for having previously bought my engagement right there but how they priced them up was a mysterious dark art. They explained it away/ justified it by writing out the insurance valuations as £1600 and £400. No idea to this day if that's correct or to make us feel we got the 'discount' in terms of what we paid. Probably the latter.

crazycatbaby · 08/03/2018 22:56

Mine was around £270 I think, a plain rose gold band. Husband was about £100, he didn't think he wanted to wear one but has got quite attached to it. He likes tapping it on his pint glass when he goes for a drink Grin

DramaAlpaca · 08/03/2018 23:00

Mine is 18 carat gold & I think it cost £120 back in 1990. It's just a plain band which is exactly what I wanted.

elefunk · 08/03/2018 23:08

DH's was £90 (silver) mine was £250 (white gold with yellow gold) we had them commissioned locally.

MirandaWest · 08/03/2018 23:10

Our wedding rings were about £500 in total I think.

PetiteMarseillaise · 08/03/2018 23:12

Our plain platinum wedding bands were "free" when we bought the engagement ring, which was fairly ££££.

fessmess · 08/03/2018 23:15

Crikey! Ours were £70 each, plain white gold. I never knew people spent so much on wedding rings!

happymummy12345 · 08/03/2018 23:22

Nothing for any of them.
My 3 were family heirlooms - wedding ring was my great nans, eternity ring was my nans, engagement ring was my mums.
Dh's is a ring he treated himself to for a significant birthday. However he hadn't worn it for years, so was more than happy to have it as his wedding ring.
(Saved us a fortune, as we'd been together less than a year, engaged for 3 months, had a baby on the way, and not a penny in savings).

IrregularCommentary · 08/03/2018 23:27

Dh's ring was super cheap, around £20. Plain titanium.

Mine is a plain platinum band, that I think was around the £300 mark.

badg3r · 09/03/2018 16:36

Ours were both around £15, we helped make them ourselves and they are silver. I have no idea how well they are going to age!!

DobbyIsAGoodElf · 10/03/2018 05:53

I had no idea people spent so much on the rings. I was thinking around £400 for both so we will have to see how far that gets me!

Salene · 10/03/2018 06:08

Married 2012 mine was £1200 and made for me to fit round engagement ring my husbands was £600

DiscoMoo · 17/03/2018 18:06

Just over £300 for DH’s and just over £400 for mine (but it was in the sale reduced from around £600).

BlondeB83 · 18/03/2018 10:37

Mine was £1100, DH’s was £800
