Will there be enough food/drink at my wedding?

After a few years on mumsnet I know that these are the important aspects at a wedding so I just wanted to check this would work.

Ceremony and reception at the same place. We're quite relaxed and informal. Everyone invited to the full thing, no extra evening guests.

Married at 3 until 3.30
3.30 canapés, pimms or can get a drink from the bar. Get a few photos.

4.30/5 - afternoon tea served on tables with some form of prosecco or champagne. Sandwiches, cake, cheese board.
Considering offering a free beer alternative?
Speeches etc at this point

7 - cake cut then music/dj begins
8 - hog roast with various salad extras, veggie option.

I want to put some money behind the bar but it will run out obviously so eventually will be a cash bar. But my worry is there won't be wine on the tables for the afternoon tea.
So my other question is whether we allow people to get free drinks during the afternoon tea or wait until the end?

Will the lack of a full meal in the afternoon be disappointing?

As a non-drinker, what options do you have there? Remember lots of people won’t drink because they’re driving. Nothing worse than having to ask for soft drinks continuously. There’s only so much orange juice you can drink!

I’d be happy with that for food. Probably wouldn’t eat the hog roast as I wouldn’t need two meals in one afternoon. I’d eat lunch before your wedding.

Good point re soft drinks, will make sure plenty are available.

Went to a wedding in September which was the same food wise. There was unlimited tea and coffee with the afternoon tea. There was wine on the tables with the afternoon tea but there was lots left over as. There was loads of food we were caked out by the evening
I would leave the free bar till the evening

I would say food wise it's fine, most people only do nibbles/finger food in an evening. If the budget allows I would maybe offer 2 glasses during the afternoon tea, one for whilst eating and a glass of champagne for the toast (plus none a alcoholic option). I guess it depends how expensive the bar is.

MrsEl good idea re two glasses. I don't want it to come across as a 'cost cutting' wedding even if it is a bit Grin

My sister suggested perhaps the groom saying in the speeches pease help yourself to drink at the bar on us.

Ooh I've just remembered about these- drink coupons! You could put one at each place setting. It's a good way to limit everyone to one free drink and keep your tab down.
