Not having a photographer

DP is very self conscious and doesn’t want to have a photographer for the wedding, just guests taking photos as and when. She’s also photo sensitive epileptic, and with the wedding being on the late afternoon in winter is worried about the flash causing a seizure.

I completely understand where she’s coming from (I’m self conscious too) but I’m not sure I can get behind non proper photos.

This is our first major disagreement ever (we’ve been together 11 years) and I don’t know how we can come to a compromise :(

Glad you have reached a comprise through talking, suggests marriage should go well. Hope you find someone you both feel comfortable with.

Hire a good photographer with an informal style, she won’t notice they are there.

We’ve decided to cancel the whole thing and elope instead. Just us, my kids and a trusted friend so he is in charge of taking photos - he’s a good photographer and we can get some great photos of us with the kids (late teens/early twenties).

We’re booking a service in the local register office, in slightly posh frocks and a bunch of flowers from a florist.

I'm not having one. Hate posed photos. Want it all natural.

I'm glad you've found a solution and hope you have a wonderful day.

So plans have changed (again!) and we’re back to the big wedding BUT we’ve found a great photographer whose brother has light sensitive epilepsy so she understands the restrictions we need.

To me this seems like all the more reason to have a professional photographer.

That way you can discuss your needs with him or her and get some lovely non-flash photos of your weddings day.

Then say to your guests that you would prefer them not to take any photos at all and that you will share the professional photos with them.

Group photos are especially bad because if you have four or five people all trying to take a photo on their iPhone then you won’t have a single photo where everyone is looking in the same direction.

Get a professional in for two hours to take some pictures in daylight and then say no more photos.
