Groom, father of the bride, best man for sure.

Then ushers and father of the groom if you want.

They don't have to be fancy shop ones. Do you know anyone with flowers in their garden?

DandelionAndBedrock · 19/08/2017 21:37

Debretts says use them for fathers of the couple marrying, ushers and best man (and the groom!). I think of them as a way of flagging up who knows what is going on. If there is a problem during the wedding, who would be able to advise what to do next and who know what is happening? Those men are the ones who probably need button holes. The women are (hopefully!) the bridesmaids.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 19/08/2017 21:40

We have just been to the Range, bought silk flower stems, and chopped them up, and put silver foil on the stems.

Hulder · 19/08/2017 21:50

Think I only did groom and best man. Would have added ushers but we didn't have any.

Of course, on the day, every man and his dog asked for one in-laws. They got told to fuck off and stop spoiling my day Grin

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 19/08/2017 22:01

We had buttonholes for groom, best man, ushers, dads and our witness - he was a very good friend who would have been a bridesmaid if only he hadn't been a bloke. Lady-buttonholes (corsages?) for our mums.

BackforGood · 19/08/2017 22:05

Up to you

Either : groom + best man
or: G, BM, + ushers
or: G, BM, Us, + fathers

some folk go completely OTT and get for everyone, but that is ridiculous and I just wouldn't go there.

DandelionAndBedrock · 19/08/2017 22:54

You can buy buttonholes from M&S flowers [[http://www.marksandspencer.com/white-wedding-luxury-rose-collection-buttonhole/p/p60055096]]. I realise they might not match what you have but worth a look. If you google "M&S guest buttonholes" they should come up.

We had double red roses for the groom, best man and father of the bride. The ring bearer had a single red rose. The mother of bride had a white corsage, the mother of groom an ivory corsage. All other guests had carnations, except flower girl who had a basket, only adult bridesmaid who had a shower/ teardrop style bouquet of pink roses, and the bride, who had a shower/ teardrop style bouquet of red roses.

Backforgood, it's not ridiculous. It's tradition for all wedding gusts to have a flower of some sort..

Viewofhedges · 20/08/2017 10:33

I made mine on the morning of my wedding. Went round dad's garden, picked some, would some wire and button hole tape round the bottom, job done. (I like making things and it was a relaxing way to spend an hour that morning, but perhaps a friend could help?) YouTube has instruction videos. You can have as many as you like from one bunch of flowers and you don't have to spend silly money.

TumbleBee · 20/08/2017 11:22

I have never ever heard of 'all wedding guests' having to have a flower - my mum sometimes used to order a corsage for niece/nephew/cousin family weddings, but I've never worn one. The Debretts thing about giving best man/FoB/ushers a buttonhole so guests know who to ask for info is more like it.

Don't stress about it - as PP have said, they're fiddly but not hard, and there are loads of Youtube videos about how to make them, either from silk or fresh flowers. Because they're small, you only need little flowers, so one bunch of roses or gerbera from Tesco would do the lot.

Peachyking000 · 20/08/2017 11:37

We supplied these for groom, best men, groomsmen, fathers of bride and groom and my lovely DS. I also arranged matching corsages for my mum and MIL

ChickenBhuna · 20/08/2017 11:42

There will be one for each of my guests. There are only 15 people attending though.

I decided to make my bouquets and buttonholes as the ones I liked were the quirky fabric variety and being a crafty person I had immense fun with it!

You get silk ones on the cheap though.

Wedding2018 · 20/08/2017 12:02

I do apologise if I have offended you. Your culture is not one I've come across in the 60 odd wedding I've attended over my lifetime (probably double that if you count the ones I've attended a Church as part of choir, or when stewarding for the weddings of people I don't know).
I do realise that MN is a huge international forum though with 100s or 1000s of members, so I shouldn't have presumed.

Mamabear14 · 20/08/2017 15:19

They are fake, from a company called dandie creations, I got all the flowers from there for £179!
