I am shocked about the price of cake. 3 tier, £650+ how much did others pay for wedding cake? Thanks, M

Ours was £250 for 3 tiers from a lady in the lake district. She was less than a third of the price of other suppliers in the area.
Try asking your venue, they will know all of the best suppliers. ours recommended our lovely cake maker.

Thank you! Smile

And until sanshay comes back with the £3k cake, here's one for a mere £1,200 It serves eighty people, mind. That's £15 a slice. And good luck cutting it.

I must have cheap tastes. That looks like a unicorn has thrown up on it.

I got three cream gateaux s in different sizes and put them on a hired cake stand.
It cost £50 in total.

Some of these seem so expensive! Our venues head chef is doing a 3 tiered 'naked cake' for £80 - serving it with cream, ice cream and fruit for dessert course Grin

We spent the days in the lead up to our wedding making a macaron tower. The guests loved it, but for the expense of ingredients and amount of time spent practicing and baking it, I wouldn't recommend it!

Here is the £3k cake! It was a gift from a very generous relative and made by Rosalind Miller. It fed 170 people and flavours were pink champagne, chocolate, lemon, traditional spice and praline!

My cake was a gift from my colleagues at work. I think it cost £100 in 2001.

Shasnay I did an internship with Rosalind Miller! I would have known that was by her without you saying. When was that, I might even have made some of the flowers Smile Smile Smile

Yes. Cakes can be very expensive. A basic 1 tier bday cake would take maybe 6 hours total. Say you want to pay yourself £10 an hour, that's already £60 without adding ingredients, profit, overheads etc.

I did a three-tier covered in roses for about £40 but then I did also go on a couple of cake courses as well, got a long-lasting hobby out of it and never have to worry about kid's party cakes cos they're easy in comparison. Though I wish to goodness I'd got all the kit then that I have now! and that is expensive
