Evening do after the wedding - need ideas!!

We're just having a small wedding in March (40 guests tops) and will be getting married late in the day at a hotel that will then host the reception. We reckon this will be over by 7 at the latest and are struggling to know what to do after that! I'm not sure there's enough people there for a DJ/dancing and really am not sure what else to do. Any ideas?!

I think forty is plenty for a dj and dancing, but then I have drunken friends dancing in my house and there's only a handful of us, so I may be slightly skewed on this. 😂

We had 50 guests and had dj and dancing and photo booth. We were going till 1am
But if you don't want to do that a nice idea is a small party back home or maybe a parents house if they are happy to host

Cocktail party? Murder mystery? Alternatively would you do nibbles after the ceremony and make your main meal an evening/later one?

Just throwing ideas out, sorry if they don't work or are a bit random!

Hire a local musician/band to play at the venue. Maybe an acoustic guitar/singer who does covers. Pub quiz. Beetle drive. Show your favourite movie with popcorn. Casino.

Are there kids there? We're having inflatable light sabres, gymnastics ribbons, twister, etc and then a ceilidh. But I'm not one for posh and civilised.

Do you WANT to have an evening do? We got married late morning and had lunch and everyone went home afterwards.

Thanks everyone - there are some brilliant ideas there. And yes Blue - I definitely do want to do something, I just had no idea what. Will consult with DHtB to see what floats his boat. And Fluffy, although there will only be one kid there am loving the idea of inflatable light sabres and twister! Though suspect we'll end up going for something a bit more grown up, doubtless involving industrial quantities of gin.

We are having a similar reception which will be over about 9pm latest. We have to leave the venue by 11pm (it's a historic building rather than a hotel). DP and I plan to head off to a fancy hotel for the night. There are some lovely pubs nearby so I imagine the guests will carry on the party after we leave.
