Decorating an evening do room- on a budget!

Does anyone have any tips to help me dress up a very corporate and plain looking room for an evening reception? Our main room is beautiful but we move into a different room with a dance floor for the evening do and it's.... Not beautiful!

There's a bar, dance floor and the rest of it is carpeted. We will have the cake displayed and then tables with naice fancy buffet food set out and I was thinking of moving the table centrepieces from the meal to the tables in the second room so we had flowers.

I don't have much to spend probably maximum £300 on this and want it to look nice. Wedding is traditional and classic (hopefully). What can I use to turn a plain room into something romantic and pretty?

What about making tissue paper Pom Poms to hang from the ceiling? We made some for my friend's wedding and they were great. Or you can buy coloured lanterns (the round paper ones you use as light shades).

We had bunting outside in the garden area, and inside we had drapes from the ceiling with fairy lights in the material. Expensive if you hire a room dresser but do-able without help. Also had lots of candles dotted about (our venue allowed them)- you can make an impact at relatively low cost with them.

And definitely move your centrepieces, you might as well get your money's worth

What about photo bunting? Black and white and strung on ribbon to match your theme? Super easy and could be a bit of a talking point -photos of you two so far in your relationship, or I know someone who used old family wedding photos which was lovely.

Can you find / make some bigger versions of the centre pieces to go up on the walls?

the paper pom poms are great as another poster suggested! We had them to decorate our hall in a variety of pastel colours and they looked really good and they were incredibly cheap! I also got heaps of fairly well made bunting off of ebay for next to no money.
We also got loads and loads of supermarket roses in pastel colours and bought a bunch of retro glass jugs and jam jars (which we also found in the supermarket!!) and dotted them about the place.

Get yourself to B&M. They have all manner of battery operated lights, cheap photo frames and glittery shit (all of which I love, btw). Ditto Matalan.

Oh and there are several wedding selling pages on Facebook - people regularly sell off all their decorations there as job lots.
