Flowers? I have no idea

I'm getting married in December.
I know it's quite a while away but I'm trying to get bits sorted.
I don't know anything about flowers so in finding this bit tricky, and I don't want to go to a florists without any ideas in mind or I will agree to something really expensive.
I want something fairly plain, even maybe just one type of flower used in bouquets. I have seen pictures of hydrangea bouquets but apparently it wilts very quickly.
The BMs are wearing navy.

That's all I know! Can anyone who knows about flowers help me?

I also know nothing, I'm also getting married in December and want something simple. Hopefully others can help! I ordered 100 pine cones off eBay the other day that I'm going g to do 'something' with. Who knows what!

Either Google or Pinterest are your friends here. Type in some ideas - winter wedding flowers/flowers navy bridesmaid/whatever and you'll get loads of options.

My florist was v cheap, and said that they can recreate most bouquets on a limited budget, if you're flexible re specific flowers and the like. Don't worry about going to a florist though. I felt totally clueless but they completely put me at ease.

Definitely agree re Pinterest, also you could look at Marks and Spensers wedding flower packages. Congrats on wedding- hope it's a brilliant days for you all. Most of all though try not too get too stressed with all the little details Flowers

Thanks for the help! It makes me feel better that the florist won't be scary. It just sometimes seems that everyone else knows what they're doing re weddings, and I have no clue!

The marks and spencer packages are really nice, looking at them. That could definitely be an idea

I got married on Xmas Eve and had a bouquet of holly, ivy, mistletoe and christmas cactus.

TheOriginalWinkly · 24/05/2015 14:39

I got married in December, I had white roses and green foliage. BMs had smaller bouquets of red roses and green foliage. Nice and simple.

Flowers? I have no idea

That sounds lovely, carabos but I hope you didn't throw your bouquet!!

Late or early December, ChipsAhoy? Amaryllis might work for you - you'd only need a few blooms because they're quite large.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 24/05/2015 14:41

Some wedding bouquets of amaryllis

Purpleball · 24/05/2015 14:44

I got married in March and had just tulips tied with ribbon. I didn't want something flouncy as it's not me.

Have a look in a florist at which flowers you like. I love Cala lillies or just roses. If the bridesmaids are wearing navy then unless you have another colour I'd do Ivory or white. You could have a bigger version with navy ribbon tied around it.

Once you decide what flowers you like have a look on google images

Chipsahoythere · 24/05/2015 15:22

I do think White is a good idea. Like you say, otherwise I would have to intro another colour. I have seen bouquets of white carnations that look all big and fluffy! Which sort of appeals. I love the scent of freesias too.

Love the idea of holly! How Christmassy!

I just looked at those M&S packages, they look pretty good.

If you go to a florist and they intimidate you - don't go with them! Any half-decent florist will be kind and guide you according to your budget. Be warned though - set your price definitively - if you say you will spend between 40 and 60, they will take the larger number. Tell them a figure and stick to it.
A simple bouquet with a striking feature flower surrounded by greenery is always eye-catching

MissMooMoo · 01/06/2015 16:46

a good florist wont intimidate you.
if you are on a budget google which flowers are in season in December, photos should come up.
google wedding flowers with the name of the flower you are wanting etc.

I think gypsophila is good for a winter wedding as it looks like snow and its cheap!
