Mother of bride and groom in similar colours?

My mother in law waited until my mum bought her outfit. I told her what colour it was (creams/browns) thinking she would get something different, she normally wears very bright colours. She has just announced she has bought a 'champagne' coloured outfit, saying 'it's not a colour I normally wear' So very similar and they could end up wearing exactly the same colour jacket.

Is this a big no no? I guess there is nothing I can do now but I just feel a bit sorry for my mum. If I didn't know better I would suspect MIL has done this on purpose. Or is this a none issue? I can't seem to get any perspective on it!

I think a bridal party /family colour scheme looks lovely in the photos .
Very elegant rather than sploges of colour everywhere.
I think your mil bought an outfit to compliment your mothers .

Ahh ok, good! I thought they were supposed to wear completely different colours. It's all a minefield! Thanks.

I was really annoyed at my mil on our wedding day for wearing a colour that really didn't go with everyone else.

The colour scheme was cream and burgundy. My mum wore a creamy/brown colour which looked great against the red. I told mil what colours everyone was wearing assuming she'd get something to compliment it.

She wore terracotta with a bright orange corsage thing (as she didn't think the corsage I'd ordered for her went with her dress - no shit!) she stood out like a sore thumb on the photos.

So I think your mil has definitely done the right thing in wearing complimentary colours. It'll look beautiful all together.

Sorry, only just seen this! Thank you! I realise it is a good thing now. Can't believe your your MIL wore a different corsage too!
