seating plan dilemmas.

We have been trying to work out our seating plan, we are having a relatively big wedding ( 110 guests) and some of the guests don't speak the same language ( all speak either English or Swedish) I have a few questions.

Dp has lots of nieces and nephews, they are aged between 11 and 25, they get on really well together, should they all sit together (there is 10 of them) or should they sit with their respective parents?

Do you mix people up or do you sit friends together even if they see each other daily?

Is it ok to sit friends who only speak English with friends who have Swedish as a mother tongue but can speak good English or should I only sit people together who have the same first language?

We went to a wedding where we were sitting with Danish guests who spoke English well. By the end we were teaching them English slang & colloquialisms and they were teaching us Danish (can't remember a word now). It was a brilliant day.

Sit all the kids together; they'll have much more fun! They're all old enough that the parents shouldn't worry about it, but if you're worried about putting your foot in it just drop the parents a line and double check they're happy to be sat apart from their kids.

I would agree to sit the kids together as they are not too young.
I think mix it up a bit with who you seat with who. People who don't know anyone but their plus one, I sat with like-minded guests. As long as they have a common language it shouldn't matter if it's their first or not.

I would sit the kids together and give the parents a small break.

For the language, I think providing the Swedes speak english (and in my experience most do) then it doesn't matter if you mix people a bit. Overall though I think it's best to put people with at least a few other people they know, as it just feels nicer.

I am feeling your pain by the way, as we also have dual languages. In my case though, most of them only speak their mother tongues, so no common language!
