Replacement Wedding Ring

Really hope someone can help!

We got married just over a month ago, and DHs ring is already ruined.

It is covered in scratches and has turned black in places, despite never being worn for anything other than relaxing iwswim, and we started to notice it after 3 days of marriage :S

We don't believe it was sold correctly, as there is no way sterling silver should have done this. However the company we bought it from will only refund if we will return it. I am happy for them to examine it, but not take it away, as despite its flaws, it is the ring I gave him at our wedding.

So I want to buy him a new one, but we are pretty skint at the moment. Anyone know where I can buy a fairly cheap size N ring, that can cope with sitting on a finger?

Ideally silver coloured and 5mm

Thanks in advance

Silver can turn that quickly I am afraid and it is a soft enough material to scratch easily. Buy a tougher replacement, silver isn't great for men

Hi Dukk,

We knew it wouldn't last forever, but 3 days after the wedding??

Especially as all we had done in that time was lay around in various hotel rooms Blush

We got a lovely ring from EBay. Brand new tungsten for £17.
It's nicer than any we had seen in the shops.

Silver is an extremely soft metal. Not suitable for everyday use as a wedding ring, really. And yes, it will turn black if worn constantly, especially on the hands. To clean it put soda crystals in a plastic container. Scrunch up some foil in the bottom. Pour on boiling water and put ring in. The tarnish will transfer to the foil.
Sadly though, it will come back. A silver ring just won't stay in good condition. I'd wait, and save up for something harder wearing.

It isn't just 3 days though... How long ago since it was made? Most of the babies christening gifts stRted to blacken in weeks and all they done was sit on a shelf!

Appreciate comments re silver, but why on earth do they sell it as wedding rings if that is the case.

Duk - no idea when it was made. But it seemed in perfect condition at the wedding

If you have purchased a silver ring than its not possible that it becomes black and scratched ..and if in silver scratches appear than they are very less visible..., if all these points which you have shared occurs than you should complain for that...because this is quality matter.
