I don't know what to do.
I don't think there is anything I can do
It fits perfectly but there is so much netting!

Could you ask the place you bought it from if they could take some of the layers out? preferably from underneath.

GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 10:49

Alas my freak out is too late for alterations.

Just cut it out yourself. if you want sleek, have sleek, it's your wedding dress ffs. Just bear in mind that the length may change if you take out the puffiness so don't touch the scissors until you've checked the length.

decaffwithcream · 13/12/2013 11:00

What passed said.

Unless you're actually posting from in the church foyer and the organ is striking up.

SoloXantiaClaws · 13/12/2013 11:05

That's more what I was thinking, but get the shop to cut whilst you are wearing it...?

Good luck! I'm sure it looks fabulous anyway. :)

GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 11:36

Right, minus the length issue I'll probably just cut it out!

OP posts:
GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 11:37

Taking it out could affect the length as it could make it longer yes? Just checking!

OP posts:
passedgo · 13/12/2013 11:48

Yes it will make it longer, and perhaps uneven length depending on where the puff is. Have you got leeway? What are your options?

passedgo · 13/12/2013 11:49

When is the big day?

sashh · 13/12/2013 12:05

Water.

The fluffy net is usually stiffened, you can get rid of the stiffness by washing. You probably don't want to wash the dress but dampening the net will help. Try it at the back first to see how well it works.

GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 12:10

Next weekend!

It's puffy at the sides and front which really annoys me.

I don't have options other than to keep it or cut it out

Thank you for posting :)
I'm feeling incredibly stressed and alone!

I will try the water on the starched net

The netting is all bunched up but the more you sort it out the bigger the dress looks!

You need to enlist a friend to help you :)

GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 12:38

I'm working on it
Not many close by annoyingly!

It's really not too late for alterations - mine were planned for just a few days before my wedding. Can you call the shop to see if they can help?

BTW, a pre-wedding panic about whether the dress is right is completely normal.

GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 14:00

The shop have already said they can't.

I think I have worked out the problem it puffs at my hips.

Sigh, why now :(

GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 14:46

I'm going to try:
dress I am a size 8 in a size 8 dress. It's been alternated at the length

GeekInThePink · 13/12/2013 14:47

I'm not convinced that photo is a true representation!

OP posts:
passedgo · 13/12/2013 14:50

That's just beautiful! It's not puffy though either.

eurochick · 13/12/2013 14:51

It's a gorgeous dress.

Could the netting be rucked up at hip level?

Letslet · 13/12/2013 14:52

Oh wow dress is gorgeous good luck next week if you are wearing that you are sure to look beautiful

Mmmmmm! lovely! :) how tall are you out of interest?

Rockinhippy · 13/12/2013 15:00

If its not a true representation & the dress looks "puffier" now than when you tried it on in the shop, then you can make the shop sort it out as its not what you bought, make a fuss !!

TBH a lot can be done with pressing alone, done on a manakin with hot steam, I could sort out puffiness issues very easily, I could even shrink or grow it a little, so I don't see why the shop can't organise this in time - its a pretty quick easy job with the right equipment - which their alteration bod should have.

Go back & make a fuss, or find yourself a well equipped local seamstress - they need a professional tailors manikin & a proper professional steam iron , which is just standard equipment really - I ave it & I work from home.

Good luck
