Steaming/pressing a wedding dress

My dress is a little creased and wondering whether to pay to get it steamed or pressed (not sure which is the correct term)

Wondering if I pay is it then going to get creases in transit to the venue? as I'm not getting ready at home.

It's an additional expense I could do without really so some advice would be greatly appreciated

What fabric is it? I sell wedding dresses and I use a commercial garment steamer to steam them. If they're then hung up in a full length bag, they're fine. What area are you in? If you're on the Wirral, I'll steam it for you for free Grin.

When travelling to the venue, put the car seats down and lay it as flat as you can. If it's silk, it may crease a bit but it will anyway when you put it on. Polyester creases a lot less.

Hey emsyj what a lovely offer but unfortunately I'm a down south girlie Grin

The dress is polyester on the skirt
Do you think I can get away with not getting it steamed?

If you're brave, iron any creases that bother you through a thin teatowel. How long has it been hanging? Creases usually drop out after a few days, but if it's already been hanging for a while and there are still some small creases, either hover the iron around it on a high steam setting, or iron it through a protective cloth such as a tea towel. I am quite wanton with my stain removal/pressing/steaming approach tho...
