Poem for very sad wedding

My nephew is getting married on Friday. He and his fiancee had planned to get married next year but last month he was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour and is not likely to last beyond Christmas.

I'd like to quote a poem and put it in the card (getting an appropriate card was in itself a challenge!), but don't know where to start.

Something as up beat as possible, but not "may you live many years and live old together" because that clearly isn't going to happen Sad

Thank you all so much for your thoughtful contributions.

I've decided to go for the James Carter poem and have written it out, folded it over and written "warning - don't read without a tissue". I've posted it now so that it'll arrive a few days before the wedding.

Thanks again everyone.

This thread has me in tears, I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. The James Carter one was a lovely choice, I will be thinking of you and your family on Friday.

Just an update; the wedding was absolutely fab, not sad at all! The groom had 73 friends on his stag night, the church was packed, even tho' the reception was only for about 40, all the bells and whistles of a full blown white wedding at just three weeks notice.

We partied on into the night, and at one point the DJ played Titanium, and everyone was around Andy, clapping and singing along, as it's a real anthem to survival. It was a v v moving and happy day. Smile
