Which weather app?

If you're in the UK, what is your go-to weather app?

I always used the BBC, but they stopped using Met office data and the forecast became awful.
I switched to the Met Office app, which was good. But.... It's just been updated and I hate everything about it! It's really hard to find the information on the screen and it won't even use my correct current location.

So I need to find a new one. Recommendations?

I'm with you in hating the new Met Office app! In fact came here to start a thread about it Grin
So following for suggestions too.

I got rid of the BBC app as it eventually wouldn’t let me use it without an account and signing in, so I’ve been using an app called ‘weather’ attached image of icon, might take a few moments to load.
I’ve found it very simple but accurate and I can have different tabs for different places we visit.

Just giving this a little bump 🙂

Can you change the metoffice app back to the old design? They changed their website as well and after trying it out for a few days, I couldn't get used to it so changed back to the old version!
(It asks at the top of the page which version you want to use.)

I can't see anything in the app to be able to revert back. There's a big button asking for feedback so going to do that.

I'm muddling along with the Met Office. I always hate it when apps change but I usually find I get used to it after a while and Met Office tends to be the most accurate for my region. So I'm just going to grit my teeth and endure.

I've googled and it seems quite complicated to un-update an app. I'm no tech wizard.

Is this article reviewing free weather apps any help?
(I'm not great at technology either!)

I use the old version of the met office website on my phone. I have a shortcut on my iPhone which takes me straight there. The advantage of the web version is that you can revert to the old interface.

The BBC announced about 6 months ago that they are joining forces with the Met Office again for their weather data (although it's not clear when that starts), so stick with the BBC.

Hi there, our son lives in Norway and always uses YR, it’s a brilliant app and an easy format.

I use Accuweather as I find the ‘feel like’ temperature v useful. But it’s not great in terms of rain predictions.

Seeline · 16/01/2026 09:03

Just been reading the comments on the Met Office FB page - 99% of them are very uncomplimentary on the update!

Blimy wish I read this properly and turned off the updates!

itsthetea · 16/01/2026 09:49

Deleted the met office app as I suspect that’s the only way they will take notice / if user numbers decline substantially

scarfaceace · 16/01/2026 10:45

Try WeatherPro. I much prefer it to any of the others.

Also just deleted it too.

If the above is true regarding BBC weather I'll be really happy. I got rid of that when they stopped using met office data.

Currently giving YR a go.

I use weather and radar. It's great as you can actually watch the clouds coming over for the day... So you know exactly when it's going to rain and stop raining. It's pretty accurate on all details
