It’s my first winter as an A&E nurse. All buses and trains off tomorrow with the storm, and I can’t drive. Shift starts at 7pm. Do you think there will be Ubers?
I actually live pretty close so can’t call out as some people have to commute farrrrr

They've cancelled all buses and trains for tomorrow evening already? How do you usually get to work?

@Pinkbutterflywow is it walkable?? you usually find that taxi drivers will always be available for nurses getting to work under weather conditions like we are expecting/ also, plan for staying in a few hours extra in case staff cannot get in. the hospital might also make available rooms and beds for staff to ensure they can turn up for work.

Edited

Not really :/ about a 90 minute walk, I’ve done it once but in the storm I don’t think that seems safe

@Pinkbutterflywow yes in my area of scotland, all schools and colleges closed, one uni closed, council offices closed, courts closed. too risky and we have now been moved into the red zone! it wouldnt be the first time I have spent the night in a bed in an empty ward!

I work in the NHS. On occasions such as this hospitals make transport arrangements for their staff. I'd flag with your line manager that you've got transport issues. You won't be the only one.

Agree with poster above. Whereabouts in Scotland are you?
