What weather app/site have you all found to be the most reliable or accurate?
I try to plan mine and DS days out, and because I don't drive, everything has to be thought through - take the rain cover, leave it, coat for me? Short sleeve or long for DS ?
I know these are first world problems, just annoying that every weather app says something completely different! Sick of being caught out in either the rain or blazing sun.
And British weather doesn't help, you never know what's coming, maybe that's the real issue 🤣

Met office is usually fairly accurate

PimpMyFridge · 09/05/2023 07:43

Yes, I go with met office too.
Not that I've checked them all out mind you, but my DH uses weather forecasts for work (military aircraft testing work, so has to be as good as poss) and that's the one he (and his colleagues) prefer. Since he checks the weather and forecast constantly he has a good handle on how well the reality matches the prediction so I trust his choice. 🤣

I have weather.com and DH has met. We compare near daily. Both are frequently wrong, but weather.com is correct slightly more often.

Yr.no

Met Office is usually the closest, and then I use Minutecast on AccuWeather for rain within the next couple of hours.

dementedpixie · 09/05/2023 08:22

I compare 3 - met office, BBC and accuweather and see who matches who. Accuweather often has more apocalyptic weather than the other 2 Grin

PimpMyFridge · 09/05/2023 08:57

My DH also uses an app called 'rain alarm' it shows satellite images of the rain cover in near real time, which allows you to see exactly what clouds are where right now, and because it shows you a time lapse clip and the different density of cloud etc you can see if something is heading your way or not. Which helps build a picture.
My DH often gives me a heads up when I need to bring the laundry in. 🤣
I know that's not planning the day before information but it is on your way out of the door 'let's have a check' info.

They are all pretty poor now

xcweather has been the most useful for me lately.

I usually find the Iphone weather app most accurate, BBC never right, Met Office right more often than BBC but not as good as Iphone, Weather pro lite - usually quite good. However, I planned my weekend around yesterday being very wet as per all 4 weather apps, first thing MetOffice changed to showing it dry but the others said it would rain at 9am. It didn't rain until 6pm! I was SO pissed off and grumpy all day - all the stuff I could have done but everyone said it was going to rain 😤😤
