Dry April

Another drier than average month.

And no real rain in the forecast for the next week.

Reservoir levels locally are already lower than expected, a friends father is a farmer and has said there is real concern already for crops.

I know we have had a few storms this year but other than that it hasn't rained much here in Manchester.

Has it actually been that dry or have I just forgotten what rain we had?

I'm in East Anglia, where it's generally drier than else where in the UK, but my water butts are almost empty already. I can't remember the last time we had significant rain (as opposed to just one wet day or a few showers in a week).

I'm in Kent, we haven't had any rain for 5 weeks!

yes it’s been really dry. First rain here (NW) today for weeks, thank goodness. Have been watering garden/veggies every couple of days.

With rising costs though that’s just not feasible so we’re installing a couple of water butts to divert bath/shower water. Suspect it’s only going to get worse.

We had a little rain yesterday evening, and overnight, but it was not enough to do more than dampen the grass.

Yes, farmer here, we are starting to get worried that if it doesn't rain soon it's going to be another difficult year with crops not growing.

Yip

In addition to the work to change out electricity generation we should also be thinking about investing in water security

Long term we may not need it but the risk is there
