I commute by foot, as do DC to two different schools. 1 mile for myself and DC1 and 0.7 for DC2. Eek!

Surely it depends where you are? It's just a bit of rain where I am.

Currently 30mph wind with a torrent of rain here. The wind is forecast to persist, though no rain for the morning. Worried about one of us being hit by a falling tree, an out of control car or debri.

I drove to work on Friday at the peak of the storm, it really was fine, including walking from the parking to work 5 mins

It really depends on where you are. The weather can vary greatly across the country. Perfectly safe, but cold, wet and miserable where I am.

How are you defining "safe"? What's the alternative travel wise?

Oh, that's reassuring. Thanks

It will depend on local conditions. Theres been videos of people getting blown over on Friday, and lorries toppling over...

Its supposed to be 40mph+ here at 9am tomorrow and I'm glad our walk is 5 mins! Hoping they open the classrooms early instead of making them wait outside...

30mph wind isn't that bad nor uncommon in the north of scotland and people go to work, school etc.

christingle2 · 20/02/2022 18:37

I would just get a taxi tbh.

KidneyBeans · 20/02/2022 19:10

30mph wind is pretty standard in many places
