Best warm boots for toddler

We ventured out as DS wanted to walk in the snow yesterday, he was wearing his usual socks and wellies, great for the wet but being plastic of course, so not good against the cold 😵 his poor feet were frozen like ice when we got home, never again!
So my question is what do other people put on their kids? I was thinking shoes or boots with fur on are great but not helpful when it comes to the snow unless waterproof.
Any ideas for me too, what do others wear to keep warm and won't let the cold in, thanks in advance.

DD has the Thinsulate wellies from Next.

In winter I normally get them a bit bigger and she wears welly socks over her normal socks - we were out for an hour in the snow yesterday and she was fine and I think she would happily have stayed out longer.

These aren’t hers but they are similar

@DrunkenKoala Thanks that is very helpful, I think it's just where everything on a wellie is plastic the ordinary type would make your feet cold as the ground was pretty cold that day, and through the plastic not good. I have ankle wellies and mine weren't as bad but not far off!

I got some furry ugh boots from
Very in the sale for about £35 for my 5yo, they're so cosy and I've sprayed them with waterproof protector so they're coping with all weather

Ugg not ugh 🤦‍♀️

baby bogs have been fab for our LO!

B1rdinthebush · 10/02/2021 21:16

I would recommend a waterproof snow boot. Decathalon do some great ones.

I bought a pair of Sorel duck boots this winter and they've been an absolute game changer. Waterproof and so, so cosy.

Worldgonecrazy · 10/02/2021 21:18

Special order aqua lamb from Celtic and co. You can only get one colour but when we bought them for DD it was only £20 or so to get them made in the waterproof sheepskin. They are pricey but so toasty. D D is now too large for the kids sizes so she’s not getting a new pair until she stops growing.

Another vote for baby bogs, I was shocked how toasty warm DCs feet were when I took them off after an hour stomping through a muddy forest.

ParkheadParadise · 10/02/2021 21:23

Dd has wellies from Next.
She's been out in the snow for days with them and her feet are cosy and dry.
I have Sorrell boots they are great for snow and ice.

We have some Aldi snow boots for both kids. Been great, starting to wear out now after a lot of wear. Also really good grip on ice, so I've been using my Aldi pair a lot even when not snowing.

If the wellies fit well I'd just get some fleece liners like these www.amazon.co.uk/Welly-Socks-Girls-Boys-Fleece/dp/B07CPT4VF5

I got some for my adult wellies for £5 from wilko but they did t have kids sizes.

EezyOozy · 10/02/2021 22:24

Fleece welly liners - had to size up on the wellies though as the liners are bulky

MondeoFan · 10/02/2021 22:26

Aldi snow boots with thinsulate. Warm and cosy

Neighneigh · 10/02/2021 22:32

Another vote for Decathlon, online is v quick delivery

Neoprene wellies are a toasty game changer! I have had a pair of Aigles for years. Recently found these for DS who is nearly 3. Grippy, waterproof & warm. He doesn’t take them or kick them off so they must be comfy too.
