Nevertheless, thunderstorms may develop today quite widespread down the eastern side of the UK
CAPE values look pretty highish around Suffolk and very high around Edinburgh. Cape is only one part of the story - its the amount of energy available to create uplift, or convection. I think that the wind shear in the south will mean that southern East Anglia does look quite likely to have storms. I've found a new toy to play with here.
However there are other factors that make storms too - moisture and dry intrusions and at the moment I dont understand enough to bring these into a forecast. So, I guess what I'm saying is remember I'm just an amateur still learning.
