Thought I ought to start a new thread. I know the situation in the west of Wales is pretty dire ( massive understatement) but a bit of a situation could develop in the se tomorrow. Not to the same level, the geography is rather different but nevertheless.

Models are differing hugely, so there is a lot of uncertainty. However the nae, which looks at mid sized features has perhaps 50-100mm showing. showing here a 6 hour total of 50 mm around the Sussex area.

Gfs, a coarser model shows less rain but moving further north.

I guess the only advice I can give is to keep an eye on the environment agency's flood page if you live in a flood prone area And the met office warnings page

I see that SW trains have some disruption. SE trains appear not to.

mankyscotslass · 11/06/2012 09:50

Bump for OYBBK

DogEared · 11/06/2012 09:52

Good luck to you all... I am in west Wales and I hope you avoid the situation that arose here :(

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2012 10:18

Chucking it down and a miserable 12C here. The forecast from Netweather for the next 24 hours.

MrsSnaplegs · 11/06/2012 12:23

Leaving home in half an hour fingers crossed weather doesn't delay the trains Hmm

headfairy · 11/06/2012 12:31

Parts of Wood Lane in Shepherds Bush is under a foot of water at the moment! Moorgate Tube closed for flooding. My drive in from Surrey in to West London was incredibly soggy. The flooding on some roads was really significant.

MrsSnaplegs · 11/06/2012 12:33

Heading from Portsmouth to margate via Waterloo

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 11/06/2012 14:00

and the thing is headfairy, the most intense rainfall didnt end up in London - thank goodness!!!

any reports from Bognor??? theres a weather station there showing 85mm of rain today on top of 28mm yesterday - very very high indeed.

those around the River Mole should keep an eye on the environment agency website (and perhaps phone floodline) record river level

link to SE river flood alerts

To give you an idea of how remarkable the Bognor recording is (if it turns out to be accurate) the average rainfall for the entire month of June in Bognor is 50.4mm so it is over double the months average rainfall in less than 24 hours.

I'm in W Sussex too... (not far from Bognor!)

It has rained heavily / steadily all day and local roads / drainage are already struggling to cope. Some of the parks and lower lying ground are flooded. It rained like this most of yesterday and into the night, so definitely a lot more rain than usual.

My garden looks green and lush though :)

headfairy · 11/06/2012 15:05

Oh I know OYBBK.. all that bloody tarmac, it just runs off and has nowhere to go. I wouldn't want to be on the central line underneath it right now. Tunnels must be filling up!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 11/06/2012 16:56

unfortunately I think the rain is going to intensify again overnight before dying out tomorrow morning.

Love the last one soozy :o

Living at the bottom of Reigate Hill is becoming a bit of a hazard, tons of water pouring down in to our valley :(

MrsSnaplegs · 11/06/2012 18:30

Arundel station has about 3 inches of water on the line - slowing trains up from Portsmouth to Victoria considerably

SoozyWoozy · 11/06/2012 18:55

No prob... not difficult to copy and paste LOL!

A27 Chi - Emsworth may not open until tomorrow.

I'm now glad I live at the top of a hill... and how many times have I cursed my choice when walking up it??!! :o

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 11/06/2012 19:06

Eek, how horrible. We're in Redhill so uphill from all the issues, glad I'm not working tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for better conditions tomorrow.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 11/06/2012 19:26

Another day, another set of warnings

worrying for Wales over the next few days unfortunately.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 11/06/2012 19:38

news from sussex though it looks that 110mm+ (4 inches) may have actually occurred close to Bognor - though that needs to be verified.
