Tell me whether to drive across the pennines tomorrow

From Cheshire to West Yorks. Non urgent trip to visit friend, would be a pain but not impossible to reshedule. DH and 3 year old in car. looking to travel in morning and come home teatime. Will kick myself if I cancel and there's no snow at all, but then I don't know if I can relax and enjoy myself if I'm watching the sky all day.

Advice, please.

BelleDame there's not that many MNers that I know near me, which is why I remebered. I do;t work for the council, but I do do at lot of work with them indirectly with the Highways Dept. The problem they had with griting was actually getting the grit across the Pennines from the salt mines in Cheshire. They usually have 2 weeks' worth stockpiled - not enough storage space for any more. Anyway, I didn't leave my village other than by foot for about a month last winter - thank goodness for working from home!

To be honest, BikeRunSki, I'm actually hoping it will snow like mad tomorrow so that I get snowed in and can't go to work on Monday! I had a mega shopping delivery today and have full fridge, freezer and cupboards so I'm all set if it does snow.

To be more "myself" than I was after I'd smashed the car up last year, I completely understand why they can't grit every road and I actually think that Kirklees is a really good local council. I do wish they'd grit my hill though (where I had the smash) and I will be begging them to do it this year. Problem is that there are other routes for people that use the hill and only about 9 houses affected if the hill is unpassable. I can see that doesn't exactly make economic sense!

Ooh, is it forecast to snow like mad around here then? I only work Wed-Fri, so I wouldn't mind AT ALL, and would get me out of soft play birthday party...

Not forecast for tomorrow but was forecast for later in the week. I don't think the Met Office can actually tell whether we're going to get any much or not as the forecast keeps changing. I'm not always this obsessive but I don't like snow and I have a horror of being stuck somewhere and not being able to get DD from nursery!
