MaMoTTaT · 20/09/2010 19:43

he was American bloke, fairly stocky, got very excited chasing a tiny little thunderstorm near Huntingdon - only to get there and the sun came out and a gorgeous rainbow - although he did at least get to show us the different parts of it

MaMoTTaT · 20/09/2010 19:43

out at sea here for the most unpredictable weather

CountessVonKnackerstein · 20/09/2010 19:43

We've had coldest spot here of -26 or something.
Bet that was fun.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/09/2010 19:46

how funny MaMo!
East midlands are supposed to be getting Stuart Robinson who has done a lot of storm chasing in the States. Good bloke. very keen on his weather!

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/09/2010 19:47

talking about long term weather patterns and diff between climate and weather.

OP posts:
MaMoTTaT · 20/09/2010 19:49

I'm sure this is very interesting - I keep missing the key points because of a very bored 3yr old wittering - shame really as DS1 and 2 are quite interested in it

MaMoTTaT · 20/09/2010 19:50

ahh - DS1 informs me that they're in the Brecks (Brecklands?) talking about the microclimate there and the extremes of temp.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/09/2010 19:51

London officially declared hottest part of England (no surprise there) urban heat island etc.
Shame for you MaMo

Hey MaMoTTaT your area's the wettest and my town is the windiest lol.

On the school run I have to walk past a park that sits virtually right at the bottom of those downs(westerly side), when you reach the park if its a gusty day,and a westerly wind it can almost knock you off your feet.

Its not a good idea to use a brolly here if there's even a small breeze.Grin

MaMoTTaT · 20/09/2010 19:52

yes - I was always interesting in the weather and stuff at school (should have gone to Edinburgh to Study Geography actually Grin)

hey ho.........

MaMoTTaT · 20/09/2010 19:53

ahhh we have the driest place in the UK apparently - St something or other.

20inch of rain a year!

MaMoTTaT · 20/09/2010 19:54

ooooo yes the Downs are hellish windy at times - used to go their with my parents years ago and nearly got swept off my feet many a time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/09/2010 19:56

It would be funny to collate these hottest wettest etc stats to see what each region reckons about themselves and other areas.

taffetacat · 20/09/2010 19:57

Good Lord we've got that dreadful Kaddy Lee Preston for Kent etc, coming out with such classics as "floods can be dangerous".
