14mo - not eating. HELP!

DD is 14 mo, although 11 months corrected due to extreme prematurity. She has always been an absolutely FANTASTIC eater - eats everything we throw at her and lots of it (well, by my standards).

We've had a very unsettled couple of months - what with the 'heatwave', first tooth, virus after virus, vomiting bug, elevated temp which was tricky to bring down, MMR jab... You name it, poor DD has had it!

She'd had nearly 2 weeks without illness before her MMR (last Wed), and then a few days later had a temp, and has been up and down since then. Appetite since the jab has been tiny (and was a bit rocky before that), and sleep has been rubbish for a month or two with 2-3 wake ups each night of an hour or more. She only started sleeping through at around 11mo!

Today she wouldn't eat breakfast or tea, but ate some lunch and supper.

Is this just a phase which will pass, or should I be more concerned? She is going through a developmental spurt at the moment - just learning to crawl and talk, so maybe it's related to that? And maybe there are more teeth coming (1 doesn't seem quite enough yet!)

HELP!

My DS has always been a very poor eater and his childminder used to get upset and then I would get upset partly because I felt that I ought to be upset. There was a period (maybe around 14-18 months) when there were days at a time when he wouldn't eat. I read that we should keep a diary and that likely it would show that over a week actually he ate plenty. It was pretty true and it helped us both to relax about it. You could perhaps try this?

Thanks, mtor, I may do that! We have a paediatrician appointment in a fortnight to review poor weight gain and constant viruses/cough so it would probably be useful - I wrote down precisely what she ate for 1 day about 4 weeks ago, and reading it today I couldn't believe the change!

Really think you should do it as it will certainly help with the peadiatrician as you will worry that you aren't remembering accurately. But write down everything including milk and water amounts. Good luck. It is upsetting especially if others comment but try not to get upset as you both just get into a cycle (or that was my experience).
