eating lumps and finger foods

Hi!

Was just wondering has anyone had a problem weaning their baby onto slightly more textured or lumpy solids? My daughter weaned onto solids really well at 6 months but seems to have massively regressed over the last couple of weeks (she's 8 months). She now won't even eat rice crackers and other finger foods which she used to love and flavours which she used to enjoy. Is this common as my son just ate everything given to him (maybe that's a boy thing!) has anyone got any top tips as today we have both been really frustrated!

Thanks

Is she teething at the moment?

it's possible as she doesn't have any teeth yet but cant see any other symptoms or teeth coming through.

If you suspect teething then how about trying slightly softer things just for a week or two? Yoghurt (can be mixed with other foods), cooked rice, soft veg like cooked carrot, or mashed potato with grated cheese, pieces of avocado, or soft fruit?

My DD is now 14 months and has regular periods of regression for a couple of days at a time when she will only eat soft stuff again. Sometimes it coincides with teeth, but often there's no obvious reason. I guess perhaps she just doesn't feel like eating - but she always goes back to her normal food with gusto, so easy as it is to say, don't worry, just keep offering her the choice of different textures, but go with it!

Cheers guys, think you right- she's spent the last day throwing up so think it may well be linked to teething/tummy bug. will start again with soft plain food when she feels up to it.
