John Lewis Spot Highchair - any good?

Hello
Does anyone have experience of the John Lewis Spot Highchair? I've ordered one, but am now not so sure that the 'wipeable' white polyester fabric will withstand brightly coloured baby food. Does anyone know if it stains?
Thanks

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but yes, it stains and the cover is not removable.

Time to take advantage of the free returns policy with JL and making a trip to Ikea to buy an Antilop. They don't stain, and can even go in the dishwasher

Thanks brennannbooth!Back to JL it goes.

Unfortunately, our kitchen is teeny tiny and I need a scissor-style highchair that I can fold up and put behind the kitchen door when we aren't eating. Otherwise the Antilop would have been my first choice . Time to check out the MN product reviews...

did you get an insert cushion as well?

Yes thats the one, didn't bother with a insert. Just another thing to clean!
DS is 5.5 months has used it for about 3 weeks now and was reclined enough to support him when he was not as great at sitting further up. But now hes almost sitting unaided and hes fine in it also, he will happily sit with his toys on the table top part. overall a bargain imo. this is him a few weeks back www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5931524&l=3889a03c5e&id=564307941
and heres this week

hope that helps

i can't see it on the site, but we had one very similar to madmissy's but from mothercare

it was fine! i think we may hve ende up with a few spots of red food on it but tbh it isn't the end of the world, and in general if you clean it 2quickly it'll be fine

we had it for the same reaosns as you, but actually never ended up folding it up between meals because i was too lazy lol
for the next baby we got an adjustable one that would go up at the table like a chair, so it wasn't stuck out in the middle of the room

cyteen · 27/05/2010 10:37

We had two of the JL ones, because the first one broke almost as soon as we unfolded it for the first time. The second one lasted a few more months but I found it a massive pain in the arse - hard to fold, wobbly and DS hated it too.

Antilop has been much better for us

madmissy · 27/05/2010 10:44

never fold mine either! its very sturdy, i have a 4yr old dd and a 2 yr old dd and it withstands them hanging off it to get to to their brother!

destinyschild · 27/05/2010 12:19

madmissy your DS is such a cutie! And what a clean looking highchair.....Is the jelly tot highchair stain-proof? Our baby has a love of spreading orange baby food EVERYWHERE. The Mothercare one looks very good too!

I do wonder if I will actually fold the highchair up every time we finish using it. Or will it become another piece of baby equipment to fall over? Hmmmm.....

if you have a dining table then tbh i think you;re just as well getting one that sits up to the table like a normal chair, takes up less room than a highchair we found, and can be used for longer

madmissy · 27/05/2010 19:10

thanks i am biased as he's my first boy after two girls perfect end to having kiddies!

erm seems to have held up well against stains so far.. are you baby led weaning or puree? i do puree and do get the odd bit over the place but generally wipes up fine. the only bit that may stain would be the white edging to the seat but even that is a plastic wipe-able fabric. the straps are blue and they are the big stain zones so good that they are not white!

the stokke style seats are good for at the table but lots of ££

i had all singing and dancing ones with my girls lowered etc but it broke after dd1 hung off it getting to dd2 so that's gone.

wasn't going to spend out a small fortune again this time and i'm pretty impressed with this one..

good luck!
