Preparing & storing veg/foods for BLW?

Just started weaning (1 week) and we're doing BLW. I wondered how others prepare and store small portions of veg or other foods?

For example, can you freeze portions of oven-roasted or steamed veg and simply reheat in the microwave? Any ideas welcome as we don't always have the same as DS especially when we're out, but cooking such small portions 'to order' is a bit of a faff!

TIA

One of the principles of BLW is to give your DCs the same as you, and all eat together - so rather than cooking small portions, you just give them a bit of yours, making sure you cook with no salt etc of course. If you do this, there's no need to cook small portions.

In practice though we did often give DS bits of veg in addition to what we were having. I think your idea sounds like it will work just fine.

Roasted carrot and parsnip sticks freeze well and make good snacks, if only I could get DD to eat them instead of her trying to share them with the cat

We do try to all eat the same food, but I'd like to get together a small stash of foods that I can take out with me when I know we're going somewhere where the food isn't suitable...the PIL don't do vegetables or meat really - it's all processed stuff like pork pies etc when we're round there.

I'll try carrot and parnisip tomorrow and will experiment with others... Cheers both.

I'm trying to cast my mind back. It all seems so long ago now - it's only a matter of months! (DS is 16 months now).

I don't think this was straight away, but we found DS did well on slices of fruit with the skin still on (the skin gave him something to hold on to, and he didn't eat it).

I remember him particularly liking oranges, avocado and dragon fruit, all with the skin still on.

Cucumber was a bit early hit too. He would just gum away at it.

I'm vege and DS doesn't eat meat. But meat-eating friends have told me that their babies loved just sucking on bits of cooked meat.

We used to do trays of roast vegetables. Just stick lots of different things in the oven and roast well. Add herbs too (rosemary?) if you like
