Weaning at 15 weeks?

Please can I have peeps opinions on this.
My DS used to sleep from around 7pm to around 7am with a dream feed at 11pm.

HOWEVER!, in the last three weeks she is starting to wake up herself before 11pm (around 10/10.30pm). I try everything to settle her and in the end have to feed her. Then there are also times when she wakes again at about 4/5am. This isn't every night but it is starting to get more frequent.

She naps 3 times a day each one about an hour.
I don't want this to continue because it will break her fantastic pattern.

My HV recommends I try and build my milk supply up in the next few days by drinking more and resting. If this doesn't work then try a teaspoon of babyrice!!! (she is taking into acount that DS was 2 weeks overdue) I really want to wait until DS is 6 months old. Any suggestions?

Mads - I am going through almost exactly the same thing and posted in horror about it a few weeks ago. DD2 is 16 weeks tomorrow and for the last 4 weeks was feeding every two hours at night, having previously gone thro from 8 to 6 on occasion. In about the last two nights she has only woken once or twice, I'm hoping it may settle back down even more.

I honestly think she was working really hard to get my supply up, as there is definitely way more milk there now in the evenings and nights thanks to her efforts. Now that things seem to be in full swing on that front so to speak she seems to be settling a bit again.

I tell you, I know where you are coming from ,nevermind just feeding baby rice I was ready to give up the whole darn shooting match and put her onto formula and rice at 16 weeks and be done with it.

I do feel differently now, being woken just once or twice a night feels very different to me to being woken 4 or 5 times and I am less sleep deprived and more able to just get with it and enjoy this time when she is so little and so fond of my boob . TAke it from me when your DD is a strapping 3 year old (like my DD1 is now) you will look back on this time with misty eyes.

agree with the others re. feeding her quickly if she doesn't self-settle within a reasonable time. DD2 is much calmer as a result of my doing this.

good luck. Will be interested to hear how things progress.

Hi guys. Again a big huge thank you for everyones advice and support!

I haven't given her any rice and like alot of you said have just carried on feeding her when she needs it. This has done the trick and my milk supply has increased. She is still waking up herself around 10/10.30pm but seems to go through to 7am after this.

Bobby bob - That explains it!! Hope you are well down there!

Mother peculiar - hope is all is going well for you - and every one else. Thank you
