Weaning & Nursery

I'm hoping that people with experience can give me some advice as I am a bit confused after my weaning visit from the HV. This is my first baby and the guidelines have changed so much since anyone close to me weaned their children.
First of all is it 6 calendar months or 24 weeks that I start to wean at? I did ask but she wasn't very sure in her answer.
Secondly I am worried about how I will start to wean when DD will be in nursery/ at her Grandparents at 6 months.
HV advised me to start the first meal at lunchtime but I'm concerned that it won't be me feeding her and so will be hard to keep track of what she is taking and also to manage BLW (my mother has already said she doesn't agree with this approach)
Will I be able to start with the evening meal instead and then build up? Any help gratefully received!

Does your nursery provide lunch? TBH at six months you will be able to move to three small meals a day pretty quickly (maybe within a week). Perhaps you could prepare some mushed food for her lunch so that you know she is getting something whilst at nursery / grandparents and then proceed with a more relaxed BLW approach for breakfast and dinner.

Not sure on the 6mths vs 24wks (i've never been able to work out the wks side of things!). Don't worry about it too much, it really is easier than it seems (just started weaning my 6mth DD) Good Luck!

Generally 26 weeks is considered the 6 month weaning mark.

Thanks very much both, not sure about what nursery will provide mush wise but they do cater three meals a day if needed so will check with them.
