Which pre-prepared baby food?

I've just realised that we'll be going to France for a long weekend (5 days) during the second week of weaning for my baby boy, assuming I make 26 weeks before starting as I currently intend to.

I can't see any alternative to using jars/pouches of baby food as I won't be able to cook/puree my own stuff (as I intend to do usually) whilst we're away. So which brands of baby food would you ladies think is best for such an early week?

Thanks

I'd postpone weaning till you get back from France if I were you! A couple of weeks wouldn't make that much difference. (and save you a load of hassle!)

I too would put it off till I got back I think.

If you're not going to wait til you come back - DD2 loves the Ella's kitchen stuff. YOu might want to find out what sort you can get in France so you don't have to cart loads of stuff with you

I second the Ella's kitchen stuff, it was great for travelling when DS1 had just started weaning. Of course if your little one can wait til you get back that's fine. BTW the Ella's kitchen stuff actually tastes good to an adult, which cannot be said for most of the other baby food.

Oh, plus the pouches that Ella's kitchen come in are great as you can just squeeze a bit onto the spoon, use as much as you need and save the rest for later.

If you can't wait, couldn't you just give him soft-ish finger stuff that doesn't need cooking, like cheese/bananas/bread?

Thanks for all the advice. I thought that I couldn't leave him after 26 weeks, that he was running out of iron etc.

I think that's what the follow on milk and food manufacturers would like us to think....I have seen so many leaflets and stuff from them which make you think that all the iron falls out of your baby the day they hit 6 months
