Food for us and baby.

Hello,

DS has been getting the hang of eating for the last few weeks (he's 7 months next week) and seems to be enjoying a mixture of purees, porridge, cereal and bits to pick up and chew/suck.

I'd like to work towards him eating roughly what we do a lot of the time, but I am worried about the saltiness of what we have. Is it worth using 'baby' stock cubes and then only seasoning ours once we have put his aside? We don't tend to make stuff really salty, but do normally season when cooking.

He has had fairly plain stuff so far, single and mixtures of various fruits and veg and I'd just like to give him a bit more variety I guess, but want to make sure it's suitable.

We cook most of our own meals from scratch anyway so I don't mind cooking For some reason I am getting a bit stuck with where to go next!

Thanks.

I intend to just cook what we have and season ours later. We don't tend to use salt when cooking veg anyway (mostly steamed). DD only enjoys rice so far, but hope to introduce more soon.

i tend to do the same as minshu, just season ours afterwards, but then i 3was never big on salt in food anyway so it hasn't been a huge issue i suppose

If you can be bothered it's dead easy to make your own veg stock, it'll freeze or keep in the fridge for up to a week and tastes far far better than the 'baby' stock cubes.

Have been using Kallo Very Low Salt stock cubes since DS was 1.

I used the baby stock cubes, where I'd use a normal one usually.

Cooking from scratch and adding no salt during the cooking and everything will be ok for baby. (no shark or marlin of course )

Your taste buds will adjust too is you don't add too much salt.
