Someone just told me that the recommended age for weaning has just been changed from 6 months to 4 months.

Is this true?

Nope. 6m.

Have you heard of baby led weaning?

MrsBadger · 06/04/2010 15:23

has been 6m since about 2003 iirc, not likely to change

CMOTdibbler · 06/04/2010 15:24

No, it's not true, and the Deparment of Health have confirmed that they have no plans to change it either

DrivenToDistraction · 06/04/2010 15:24

No, it's definitely still six 6 months.

Baby led weaning is great, I've done it with both of mine.

Ineedsomesleep · 06/04/2010 15:30

Still 6 months. Wait till then, you'll find it so much easier than weaning at 4 months.

DS was weaned at 16 weeks and it was a real faff and took ages to get him to eat a few small spoons of food. It made no differnce with his appetite for milk or sleep either.

The advice changed before having DD and so we waited with her. She helped herself to a ham sandwich at 23 weeks and ate it. Weaning over

Please wait.

Ineedsomesleep That's what my son did! Only it was his dad's porridge. And later on, a sausage.

Porridge and sausage If I was being weaned I'd much prefer that to baby rice!
