weaning gear

DS is only 12 weeks, so obviously not weaning yet, but a few friends/relatives want to get him something for easter. Have suggested vouchers as he has lots of lovely clothes which have been gifts.
So thought I'd spend them on practical things for weaning.

So what would you reccomend? any brands of cups etc you couldnt live without?

Haven't decided if going to BLW or spoon feed(have only just started to read up on the subject), maybe a mix of both methods.

TIA

antilop highchair from ikea (about £10)
tommee tippee pelican bibs (look for roll up travel ones)

Just used Tommee Tippee cups - no valves or anything and they don't spill if the spout is down properly. And you can use them without the lid when they first start drinking out of proper cups.

High chair, ikea antilop one is good if you want a separate highchair, or I like the Tommee Tippee Healthy Care Booster Seat (normal one or Rainforest one which has a toy attachment that clips into the tray) - it straps to a normal dining chair and will take them from about 5-6 months right up including the booster seat stage to using a normal adult chair. And it's small so useful for taking on holiday etc.

Other highchairs might look pretty but they are full of crevices which are a nightmare to clean and the trays are usually much too high for BLW to work well when you first start because they are right up at the baby's armpit level.

The Kiddopotamus TinyDiner is useful if you want a highchair/booster seat that attaches to a table.

A copy of the BLW book? (Can get the Kiddopotamus thing from Amazon so Amazon vouchers for these two)

Small cutlery set for toddlers - the smallest you can find. I'm going to sound like an advert now but the Tommee Tippee ones are perfect, or Tesco own brand are the same. You can spear things on a fork to get them to start off with cutlery.

WRT bibs, DS has never tolerated the pelican style ones and I have always preferred the ones which are like a rectangle with a hole cut out for the head.

Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair.

Stokke Table Top

Silly Billyz Messy Eater bibs. They say they fit from 18 months or some such nonsense. I used them from 6 months with rolled up sleeves on both my DC, no problem. They save a fortune in washing, not to mention stopping thing being so badly stained you can't redeem them.

In an ideal world I'd want to use the Ikea Antilop from 6 months to 10-12 months and then the Tripp Trap.

Sorry meant to say the tinydiner is a rubber placemat with a lip to catch dropped food - not a highchair.
