best spoons for blw?

Hiya

I started BLW last week and am loving watching dd gum chicken, malt loaf, hummus etc with gusto!

I'd like to be able to give her mushier food (porridge etc) and was wondering what kind of spoon you'd recommend? I've got a plastic one which is pretty much the same size as a tea spoon, and another which has a teeny bit for her mouth with a long handle. I could try her with both but this might confuse her?

At the moment she's really trying to get it in her mouth but she's just wiping it all over her face!

As a side also, she's refusing veg sticks! She picks them up and flings them, whereas she'll happily gum protein and carb food.. any tips?

Thanks in advance!

Any spoon you have is fine. Why not give her both of the ones you have any see which one she finds easier to use? I doubt it will confuse her. Are tyhe veg sticks big enough for her to hold and still get in her mouth? Are they cooked or raw? Could be too hard or soft. Are they too hot, too cold?
Keep trying she will get to them eventually. DD2 wouldn't past for ages but eventaully got it. BTW don't tell everyone DD won't eat vegetables at every opportunity in her hearing. If she grows up hearing this then she never will!

out of interest mollysmum, how old is your DD?

Another option for soft foods is to spread then on toast. For a while my dd refused food of a spoon but would suck it off toast fingers. I did cream cheese, hummas and even beef and sweet potato.

My little boy is getting on really well with a tommee tippee spoon at the moment to feed himself baby rice.

DS (6mo) has some Mr Greedy thick plastic spoons we found at Tesco. They have a nice chunky handle and he is getting very good at slurping fromage frais off of them!
