...what delicious delicacies would you make for my dinner to tempt me to have a little something to eat today?

No-one will make me something nice for my dinner.

Roast vegetables, especially nice wintery parsnip and squash. Or some sort of chicken casserole/ variation on chicken broth? Boiled egg and soldiers (if soft egg is allowed at 9 months). Hope you feel better soon.

Chicken broth/casserole.
Get well soon.

Umami · 02/02/2010 16:46

I do like parsnips...
Didn't want Mummy's stinky chicken casserole yesterday. I suppose I might try a mouthful today. Toast is only good for throwing on the floor for Mummy to pick up for me to throw on the floor for Mummy to pick up.....in fact, I may well do that with the parsnip too! Yay! What fun!!!

I'd make veggie chips - that way they can be easily picked up from the floor and are totally tasty for you too. Carrot, potato, sweet potato, parsnip, plus some sausages if you feel like doing them.

Umami · 02/02/2010 16:53

Yummy! I usually like sweet potato. Perhaps I could eat a mouthful of a chip.

I bake them - cut the veggies into wedges (carrots I leave whole), roll in some oil in a baking tray, then shove in the oven. I do the same with the sausages.

It's so low effort that you don't feel bad if it goes uneaten, and is fun and easy to eat - you may like a little garlic mayo to dip your veggies in or just tomato ketchup

lisianthus · 02/02/2010 17:05

hummous! Nice and garlicky for that cold. And it's fun to wipe all over your hair to take your mind off it as well.

displayuntilbestbefore · 02/02/2010 17:06

Something that slips down nice and easily to avoid too much chewing and having to try and breath through your nose while eating.
Soup, porridge, roasted root vegetables, stewed fruit....

Umami · 02/02/2010 17:08

Yes! Lovely dried-on hummous hair! That always makes me feel good! Perhaps sweet potato chips dunked in some hummous would be nice.

heh - we tried the sweet potato chips/hummous combo at lunch. It was carnage (had to pick DD up in a towel afterwards and wash/change her completely) but she loved it.

Galena · 03/02/2010 08:28

My DD is also 9mo and also has a rotten cold. She had lentil soup yesterday for lunch and loved it... carrot, onion, red lentils, potato and stock, cooked for a while and then blitzed. The bonus? I had a big bowlful too! YUM!

mrsflux · 03/02/2010 16:39

we went back to puree when ds was sick the other week. it was less effort for him to swallow and no chance of gagging and puking!

he always has room for yogurt! no matter how sick!
