Is it harmful to delay weaning past 26 weeks?

The reason I am asking is that I am not sure if DD will be able to sit up properly by then. She is only 22 weeks now so i appreciate that she may get loads better i nthe next four weeks but I just wondered. I intended to do BLW, having never done traditional weaning. Can i leave it till, say, 28 weeks without it having a detrimental effect on her?

yes of course - there's no set date to start weaning, just a strong recommendation to not start till after six months.

DS completely refused food until about 2 weeks ago. He's now 36 weeks and eating like a good 'un. I worried about it a lot, not helped by HV who was determined to try and get him to eat even though he was not interested. Wish I'd just gone with what he was so clearly telling me, and just waited until he was ready.

you've no idea how relieved i am to hear this, thank you. she is not showing any interst in our food, she still feeds every 3 hours during the day and about every 4 at night, and seems happy just with bm. I will see how she goes over the next couple of months.

olivo, thanks for asking this, I was wondering the same thing! I am also planning on BLW, but have never done it, so not sure what foods to start with.

yank, you'll find loads of help on here. i did blw with dd1 and it was really successful, purely down to all the help i had from here, especially from aitch. at the time, no one i knew had done it and everyone thought i was mad
