Overly excited about weaning!

This is extemely sad, but I need to share my excitement with someone because (literally) no one I know in RL is a) waiting until 6 months to wean and b) doing BLW.

I can't wait! Well, obviously I can, because I am, but I'm just feeling really excited about it all. Only 2 weeks to go now. I've started putting together lists of ideas for finger foods & the thought of DD's little face when she actually starts eating properly is making me come over all giddy!!

I know it'll take a while to get going, but it just seems such an amazing next step.

Share your lovely BLW stories with me please. Favourite memory or favourite baby+food moment of the day/ week/ month?

Good luck

I truly think blw is the way to go.

DS is 16mo and happily sits down and eats a whole apple (core and all) by himself. Call me sad but I think that's a real achievement.

Ah, bless him. He must be very serious & dedicated about his apple eating business to eat the core aswell! Don't think it's sad at all

It's lovely. Get the camera ready - really fun watching them explore food and get so much fun out of it.

Also I find BLW really fun when they are still at the size that you can bath them in the kitchen sink, I used to really let DS get absolutely covered (and he did ... chilli con carne mixed with greek yoghurt gets everywhere!!) and not bat an eyelid, then dunk him in the sink, get him all clean and take him upstairs for a lovely snuggly story and breastfeed while DP dealt with the bomb site we had left downstairs

(To be fair clean up not that bad - kitchen roll takes care of the floor and a damp cloth sorts the highchair out. If you are clever you buy a highchair which goes in the dishwasher!)

It's early days in our house. DD1 is just over 5 mo so must be about the same age as your LO pogger. She showed signs of readines. Ditto getting the camera/mobile ready for loads of pics. ANd the long sleeved bibs.

Thus far she has had everything for roasted courgette/red pepper/butternut squash/sweet potato;salmon, pasta, broccoli, orabge,banana,bread...it is amazing.

I know we might still hit a bad patch. And sometimes it is messy. But I think she is loving bein a part of the meal/social circle.

I wasn' t convinced by on demand bf-ing.But after lots of MN ing advice am trying to chillax re BLweaning.

Thus far going well

Amazing when the new phases arrive!
