Lentils and BLW

I'm keen to get some lentils (and actually any protein) into J using BLW approach. Any suggestions as he's only happy picking up stick like food at the moment and is an absolute no go on a spoon.
Also, any good ideas to put on toast? Especially savoury stuff as we normally have peanut butter (no), marmite(no), honey (no) and jam (maybe).
Thanks

I have put lentils in a soup and then given LO bread dipped in the soup. But I haven't made a concerted effort to get lentils into her, or protein. I do offer meat, but really it is only recently she has been able to eat small amounts of them (she is 9.5 months). Slow-cooked roasted or stewed meat is good as it is very tender and flakes. How old is your LO?

For toast, how about cream cheese - thats one of our favourites. Mashed banana or avo are others.

Are you avoiding all nuts? You could make a nut butter (with ground nuts) with another type of nut? I have not tried this yet but want to!

Have you tried just putting a bowl of lentils in front of him to see if he can pick some up in his hands (if you don't mind the mess!)? If he can't now, he will be able to do this pretty soon. Otherwise, if meat is OK, meatballs and home made burgers are great.

There is this great fruit spread you can put on toast, it's made out of concentrated fruit juice and nothing else, no sugar etc. I got it from the health food shop but I think some supermarkets sell it too.

Cream cheese is a good one for toast (or just soft goat's cheese).

This might be a mad idea but how about lentils on toast? The green ones are quite mashy...

My DD loves 'Red Dragon Pie' which is basically aduki beans, carrots, onions (I also add celery) cooked in stock with tomato puree, herbs and soy sauce - this might be nice pureed and put on pitta perhaps? The Red Dragon pie is usually topped with mashed potato like cottage pie. Good for slightly older toddlers who aren't keen on meat.

My 8.5m old loves humous on toast. I've given her bread soaked in lentil soup and that wasn't too messy.

DD loves lentil wedges.

Cut into wedges/sticks so you LO can pick up bits.
