Can I overdose on babyrice?

My DS will eat anything as long as it is mixed with babyrice or baby porridge. Is this normal? He's been having purees for about a month and I can only think that a fruit or veg on it's own has too much of a strong taste and/or texture. Is it okay to give him baby rice this much? Is it better to give him just the fruit/veg pureed and know that he won't have more than a couple of mouthfuls? (If I mix it, he will eat the lot). Are there any alternatives I could 'dilute' with?

what age?

If he is over six months, have you tried finger foods?

He's a few days short of six months (I now realise I started a little early, but it's a bit late to change that now). I have given him sticks of cucumber and pepper which he looked at very unimpressed and simply dropped on the floor. He enjoyed mushing banana, but it didn't make it to his mouth. He put the baton of cooked parsnip in his mouth, but then pulled a face positively threw it on the floor. Is this what they normally do?

Yeah, that seems quite normal to me. DD started her weaning all by herself at 23 weeks with a ham sandwich, so don't worry too much about the 6 months rule, its a guide and all babies are different.

If your DS can sit up unaided, shows an interest in food, can pick it up and get it to his mouth by himself he is ready.
