Eating out with 6 month old baby

Just wondering what others do. i'm on dc3 and in the past carried pots of cooked veg with me, or pre-prepared baby food (although neither dc1 or dc2 liked jars).

Having read a lot of BLW stuff with dc3 I find myself feeding family food at home (either mashed or as finger foods) but am not sure how best to tackle eating out in cafes and restaurants. Seem to remember vaguely reading in the BLW book that eating out is so much easier but what about salt levels in restaurant food? I have given the baby jacket potato but what about pasta sauces, cottage pie etc? PIzza? Chips?

We're doing blw with ds, 7m, and I tend to make sure there's some side dishes like boiled or steamed veg or salad, which there usually is, for him to mostly get stuck into. tbh, we don't eat out that often, so I figure that a bit of garlic bread won't do too much harm when he hasn't had salt in anything else for the rest of the week.

My principle about eating out was that we didn't do it everyday, and if there was loads of a sauce, I'd suck it off before offering.

I'd order a side of vegetables/salad, and DS would then have a few chips/potatoes from our plates and a bit of meat. Or whatever was going really.

Hardest bit was when he wanted more than just mooching off our plates would provide, but couldn't manage a whole dish. I usually ended up ordering a starter for him

Thanks for responses. So as long as I'm not eating out all the time, and try to pick least 'salty' things, the general salt levels in plainer foods (veggies, bread, meat, fish) should be ok? Instinctively I thought so but just looking for a bit of reassurance that I havenpt missed an important point.

So far he's had stuff from home but supplemented with a few veggies, some chips and a pizza crust!

With baby no.1 I carried homemade food or jars.

With baby no.2 I did the same until she was about 7/8 mths old and i felt she could handle finger foods, then let her pick off my plate.
