We started to wean ds 2 weeks ago. He is mainly having finger foods because he seems to prefer to feed himself and seems to have taken to it really well so I want to encourage him. He is doing great but we have only eaten at home so far.

Tomorrow lunch time we are going out with some friends for a pub lunch and I don't know what to do about feeding ds. Can anyone recommend anything that I can order and safely share with ds without it being overloaded with salt or anything else that may be bad for him?

Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Take him something that you are happy for him to eat and give him bits of your food if you think it's OK.

A jacket potato normally works well, or you can order a side dish of mixed veg (all places seem to do this happily). I gave DS a strip of steak and some unsalted chips at that age, and it kept him occupied for ages in the pub as he gummed the steak to death

I'd take some tupperware boxes of finger foods you're happy for him to eat - mini bread sticks, bits of cheese, etc - and then if the pub doesn't do anything you want to give him, you've got those in reserve.

Is it a family friendly pub? If you ask nicely they'll probably be more than happy to organise you something if it's easy for them to do e.g. unsalted chips, bits of cucumber / tomato or whatever.
