10 month old and just taking to solids...

I wanted to let people know my DD is 10 month next week and has only just started taking solids from a spoon.
From around 6 months we tried introducing various fruit and veg and she would not open her mouth and pushed the spoon away. We tried cutting down milk (as per unhelpful health visitors suggestion) and this made her cry for milk and wake in the night due to hunger.

So for the last 4 months she has been attempting to feed herself through a form of BLW and has become quite good at eating on her own really only in the last few weeks - ie taking bites and trying to chew and swallow rather than just sucking food.

I was worried she would never eat like a 'normal' baby from a spoon but in the last week she has turned a corner and will now eat substantial amounts of baby food such as beef and been casserole or baby cottage pie (she has a savoury palate and likes meat! ).

I just wanted to let people know this as I often read posts on this site looking for someone going through the same thing as us. So if your baby isn't taking to solids at 6 months or even 10 months - as long as they are happy and healthy then don't worry as they will get there in the end!

Thank you soooo much, our DS has had issues with all sorts, we tried breakfast's (porridge, baby rice, creamy rice breakfast) lunches, dinners. he was doing really well to start off with then he just decided that he just didn't want to do it any more!

I said to my partner, perhaps he is just still realy keen on having his milk... we were getting concerned as members of the family keep on asking and suggesting things that we have tried, and then saying we really should keep perserveering.

He isn't unhappy on his milk, and his weight is fine and is a fairly happy baby (aside of grumbles from teething!!ha ha!), and I don't want to push him so much that I give him bad food experiences and then it takes twice as long to wean. He is coming up for 8 months and he still has a healthy interest in watching us eat, so do you think he will do it in his own time??

Is there any tips you would be able to pass on?? would it be worth us trying him on the next stage up milk (we use SMA gold, the stage 1 one) and then introducing the foods again??

Gosh sorry I have given lots of questions!

Thanks for your post. :D x
