Allergic to eggs...what to do?

DD will be 9 months at the end of the week. A few wks ago I gave her egg for the first time and a few hrs later she came out in a red rash all over her body. Of course didn't know if it was allergy or coincidence so at the weekend she had egg again and she came out in a rash all over. It doesn't seem to be itchy or annoy her and disappears by the next day. Do I stop giving her eggs altogether or is it ok to still give her some? Will she grow out of this? What about recipes that have egg in them, ok to feed it to her? (eg. I made meatloaf today which has an egg in it and I want to give her the leftovers tomorrow-is this safe?)
Thanks

hello!
Ds has a few allergies including egg.
Have you been to the allergies board - you might find some help there too.
I would cut egg out completely if you suspect an allergy - go to your gp and get referred to an allergy specialist who will confirm it and will also be able to check for any other allergies. Just helps to know what you're dealing with really - what to avoid!
What we were told is that an allergy can escalate in severity - one time it might be a rash the next time it could be anaphylaxis so we are super careful.
The further away from the raw form the allergen is the less potent it is as cooking breaks up the structure so your dd might be fine with it as an ingredient. ds can eat soya as an ingredient in bread but is really sick if he has a soya yoghurt. But I would probably get dd tested if I were you as they will also be able to give you an idea as to whether it ia an allergy or intollerance.
oops. sorry for ramble.

Just to let you know - I had a severe egg allergy when I was young but I did grow out of it. I think it was helped by totally cutting it out of mu diet, along with all the other things I was allergic too.

I obviously didn't like this when I was younger but am very grateful my mum was so strict with my diet as I can eat anything now.

DD who is now 3 and I think DS who is 8 months have egg allergies. I BF so they react when I eat egg so i have to cut it out too. DD looks like she has nearly outgrown her egg allergy. I completely cut it out until she was 2 and then gradually at the doctors advice gave her some baked good such as long baked cake. I still wouldn't give her an omelette. She goes to the hospital to be retested once a year.

Egg allergy is linked with ecxema and there is a 50% increase in the risk of asthma. Go to your GP and cut out all egg completely. Your child will have a skin prick and then you have to take it from there. 1 in 15 children under 1 have an egg allergy so you are not alone.

Thank you all for your replies. I will not give her any more egg until I talk to the doctor about this.
