Hello,

We have been doing BLW with DS for about a week (he's 27 weeks and previously exclusively BF). He's been eating with us at least 2 meals a day and he's taken to it with great gusto, happily chomping on anything we offer him, especially anything toast-like, though I'm not sure how much gets swallowed (he's still BF as usual). However, he seems to have completely stopped pooing. It's only 4 days or so, and I know people say BF babies can go longer without pooing, but this is extremely unusual for him. He also seems quite windy and a bit miserable and grisly, though he's teething so I don't know whether to blame that.

Anyone experienced anything similar? Should I reduce the food again/avoid anything in particular?

Thanks

Perhaps go easier on the bread products and then introduce gradually.
It's probbaly just the change onto solid food though so I wouldn't worry.
At first it's more about them getting used to picking stuff up and feeling the textures and tasting.

We're in just about the same situation as you, ds is 6.5 months and since we started BLW he has had great difficulty pooing. He's never been great at it but like you the first few days nothing at all and even now very hard and dry and difficult to pass (don't you love these conversations!). I have found in the last couple of days that massaging his tummy in clockwise movements and pushing his knees up to his stomach for about 5 minutes at afternoon nappy change results in a decent poo after dinner. Also try to make sure he is drinking some water at mealtimes, even if it seems like he's not eating anything. As Luciemule said I would maybe offer just veg for a few days or things which are supposed to help bowel movements (we give cooked apple at nearly every meal but I can't say I notice any huge effects). Prunes are supposed to be good - we haven't tried them yet. I know they say in the early days they don't really swallow anything but our ds seemed to get the message that food is good for eating pretty much straight away so it probably is also his wee system adjusting to solids - don't know if you have that impression with yours too. No change to breastfeeding rhythm here either btw.
Anyway it's been a week since you posted so I'm sure things will have sorted themselves out!
