Hi all,

My LO is 6 months, I weaned at 5 months on the advice of GP because he has reflux (pretty much resolved now).
All started out well, started very slowly with baby rice and gradually moved on to veg and fruit puree and have avoided gluten up until now and at this point he has 2 meals a day and the rest bottles (stopped breast/mix/feeding recently) He has ALWAYS been fussy with bottles and we went through a stage where he point blank refused them and I had to change all the teats to MAM and it was akk a bit nightmarish, but he's just one of those babies who doesnt care much fir his milk I think.
So, our routine is 6-7am bottle (no issues) 9-10am baby rice or cereal (mixed with formula) and then a bottle after and then a bottle roughly every 3 hours and a bit of fruit or veg puree in the afternoon at some point. However... He's started to refused bottles again this last week or so, he screams and gets into a temper when I put it near him and now in the last 2 days he has started to refuse his solids too, hmmppff, stumped! He clamps his mouth shut and crieds ubntil I stop. Now what do I do in this situ? Shall I just remove solids for a couple of days and reintroduce them when he has got over this 'issue' or I was thinking maybe let him feed himself? Or is he too young? I notice he's happy to suck on a rusk and earlier on, he grabbed a breadstick off me at a party and desperately wanted to eat it.. Any advice would be appreciated x

Hi EmmaLouise - I would say give it a go, after all if he's not eating anyway what have you got to lose? I know some others on the BLW thread started with purée but successfully switched. And your LO is showing all the signs of being interested if he is grabbing at food. Why not just sit him down in his high chair, put some finger food down on the tray and see what happens? Soft fruit, roasted veg, breadsticks with Philly, rice cakes, all good for starters. You obviously still have to offer the milk as well though as he will get most of his nutrients from that for a while yet. If you do decide to go for it, come across to join us on the BLW support thread, won't you?
