Weaning guidelines changing?

I keep seeing this claimed on various forums, that the weaning guidelines are shortly changing to "between 17 and 26 weeks". Is this true - can anyone confirm? With links? Also does anyone know the reason for this?
thanks

There was a spate of these claims at one point, and I contacted the DoH to ask. There is absolutely no plan to alter the recommendations as per their response.

is this because the current guidelines do mention 17 weeks as the earliest at which solids can be introduced, but the aim is to get to around 26 weeks?

thikn the mention of 17 weeks is confusing as it can be interpreted to mean anytime from 17 weeks.

need to hammer home the real and true signs of readiness for weaning. it is nothing to do with the size of your baby, how much mikl they want and if they start waking in teh night again.

Ah, thanks Cmot - that's useful.
Lulumaman - completely agree, the true signs should be emphasised more.
Cheers!
